Thread: Would a 1.8 SSD work in the H340/H320 ?

I was just doing a bit of research on SSDs for desktop computers etc... Then I was thinking, do they make 1.8 inch SSDs yet? They do:

What requirements would the drive need? Just an idea, though someone may be able to shed some light on this subject.

Although SSDs are made to appear to be the same as HDDs to the motherboard, it's certainly possible that the firmware could have issues.

A cheaper and better supported option is to get a IDE-to-CompactFlash-adapter for $2.50 to $5.00 and then the Compact Flash card of your choice. There's a list of CF cards that work and don't work with Rockbox as well as decent documentation on how to get this done: CFModGuide < Main < Wiki

I have one of these SSDs (128GB) coming at the moment. I will be able to tell you, if it works in some weeks.

I really hope so. Will of course report here, once I received the SSD. That would be a dream device: iRiver H120 with 128GB SSD...

picked up a new one on ebay for Aussie $133 (euro 89) and its a better regarded brand than the Kingspec I mentioned earlier so I'm waiting for the postman

worked 100% on 2 rockboxed h320

copied files from h320 to computer. inserted kingspec ssd 64 in one and photofast 32 in another h320 as per the photos in this post H340 Upgrade to 128GB SSD.

used swissknife to format drives as fat32

copied files from computer to ssd hard drives

started and rockbox worked.

what more could you want
