    H340 Reborn

    Wow is all I have to say...! I know we have modern smartphones and iPods and such but I just fired up the ole' H340 for the first time in probably 3 yrs, put the newest Rockbox on it and i'm impressed as I was the first day I got it. A good player made GREAT with Rockbox. I'm going to keep one of these 80GB drives and do the mod. Need TigerTom to help me get the damn case open though as the last time I tried, could not do it.

    The cheap blue plastic tools you get with iPod battery replacements kits work very well for opening up the H340 in my experience.

    I was thinking of doing the same mod with one of my H120s. I prefer a standalone device as a DAP, too, convergence be damned.

    Hi Jeff,
    Just uploading the video now, will post the link when done!
    I had to do it 4 times as every device I opened up had at least one clip broken on the back cover, I ended up taking apart a H340 which I knew was ok!
    Sorry the res of the video is low, had to use the lowest setting on my camera! but may do the highest setting & see what that is like!
    I can also add a video of how I replace the battery in a 300 series if you like?
    I will keep you posted how I get on.

    Thanks Tom,

    What we'll eventually do is add this to the H300 online manual that Jumbuck is working on. Once the site goes through its last "redo" in a week or so, we'll get going on it. This will be great to have video.

    Thanks for the videos. Fantastic quality. far better than the others floating around the net. These combined with H1XX and H3XX Series FAQ's about half way down should enable anyone to replace hard drive or battery
